Located in the very north of Guatemala, on the shores of a lake in a national park, this site is a major pre-Columbian city. It was inhabited from the 9th century BC, reaching its peak between the 4th and 9th centuries. It was an economic, political and military centre with several tens of thousands of inhabitants.
