Les Baux-de-Provence is situated in a unique setting: an imposing rock rising from the garrigue, upon which this medieval village is built, dominated by a citadel shaped like an eagle’s nest. The rocks and buildings, which seem to merge into one another, lend the whole place a magical atmosphere.
The village is best explored (and is a delight to do so) exclusively on foot; here you can admire old houses restored with taste and skill, beautiful Renaissance façades and a few magnificent mansions, most of which now house art galleries and museums.
