St Mary’s Cathedral, which Bertrand, Bishop of Comminges, had built in the 11th century on a rocky promontory, from where it seems to watch over the Pyrenees.

The village itself, behind its ramparts and entrance gates, is home to noble houses dating from the 16th to the 18th centuries, as well as barns and haylofts in the lower town. At the foot of the promontory lies the ancient Gallo-Roman town and, 2 km away, the Basilica of Saint-Just de Valcabrère, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
