The call of the sand (1)

I'm taking up Fabdan's concept of telling a short story in Hanjie.
This one's a bit fantastic-horror, so I hope you like it.

"Dinner had been heavy and the warmth of the suede sofas was welcome. Sophisticated digestifs were served and then we chatted about various subjects. Politics was quickly abandoned as we were in no mood for verbal jousting. In fact, in this strange setting with its African flavour, there was a mystical and disconcerting atmosphere. What's more, such was the treachery of the cocktails that long silences soon set in, disturbed from time to time by the rustle of pine cones."
